It always seems inevitable that we would see some controversy in the Hull derby and that has proven to be the case as Hull KR star Shaun Kenny-Dowall has been sin binned for a high tackle on Jake Clifford at the back.
Clifford was only at fullback because of an injury earlier in the game to Tex Hoy as he limped off with a hamstring injury.
Clifford swooped on a kick from Jez Litten which Ryan Hall wasn’t best pleased with as Hull KR probed.
It left Shaun Kenny-Dowall in a position where he needed to scramble and tackle the Hull FC star.
He dived after the star man and caught him high and was shown a yellow card by Ben Thaler.
It was described as “reckless” by Phil Clarke on Sky Sports.
Meanwhile, Terry O’Connor said: “Its full blooded. Clifford isn’t even dropping down low, it is just a swinging arm.”
The game is all square at present. Hull KR took the lead after a brilliant run and offload from Mikey Lewis allowed Jack Walker to dive over for a try on his home debut with the former Leeds Rhinos star striking against his former club.
However, Walker was caught out by Adam Swift for the equaliser as the winger took a great offload from Cameron Scott to burst clear before he wrong footed Walker to score under the sticks.
After that Rowan Milnes missed a penalty that could have given Hull KR an 8-6 lead.
