Hull KR star Mikey Lewis suffers injury vs Wakefield

Hull KR

There’s major concern for Hull KR star Mikey Lewis with the playmaker picking up an injury in the act of scoring against Wakefield Trinity.

Lewis had been at the heart of the action in the first half, for both positive and negative reasons, with the 2024 Man of Steel creating the first try but then getting involved in a spat late on to concede a penalty when the Robins were in good ball territory.

Shortly after Wakefield Trinity scored in the corner thanks to Tom Johnstone, Lewis powered over the line to put Hull KR back in front but the celebrations were limited as it quickly became apparent that Lewis was hurt.

Holding his ankle, Lewis shuffled along the floor out of the way of the celebrations as the physio saw to him and heavily strapped his right ankle which seemed to crumple underneath the tackle as he was in the act of scoring.

With that heavy strapping administered, Lewis hobbled back to his own half and continued to play but under the watchful eye of the medical team, however, he limped off on the 70-minute mark after fielding a kick and being unable to do any more.

At the time of the injury, Sky Sports commentator Jon Wells claimed Lewis would be unable to finish the game.

Wells said: “The try has been awarded but where has that ankle gone? He’s coming back and he’s heavily strapped but I tell you what, I can’t see him finishing this game because he’s in all sorts (of pain).”

It was then confirmed by Sky Sports reporter Jenna Brooks that Lewis was placed in a boot and used crutches to exit the dressing room.
