Hull KR star Mikey Lewis has spoken live on Sky Sports to give an update on his injury and his chances of playing in the Hull derby.
Man of Steel Lewis suffered a groin injury after 17 minutes in the Challenge Cup game against Hull FC with the playmaker pulling up and limping off.
The Robins would go on to win that game 32-16 with Jez Litten playing a starring role in place of Lewis and Litten retained that role against Wigan Warriors.
Hull KR hosted the champions at Craven Park and Lewis was among those watching from the sidelines alongside fellow injured Robins man Rhyse Martin.
The Man of Steel gave an interview to Sky Sports at half time and chief among the talking points was his groin injury and particularly if he would be available to play in Rivals Round against Hull FC on Good Friday.
“Hopefully,” he responded, when asked if he would line up against the Black and Whites.
“I’m taking it day by day. Hopefully, I get running again tomorrow or maybe Monday but I want to be 100% fit and raring to go for next week.”
Giving his assessment of the game, with Hull KR 12-6 up at the half, Lewis explained: “I’ve been sat there with Rhyse Martin and it feels like a semi-final.
“The atmosphere has been electric and the game has proven up to that as well.”
He also picked out one of the Robins star performers Dean Hadley, praising his first-half showing and even labelling him as one of the most underrated in Super League.
Lewis said: “Deano is Deano. Dangerous Dean we call him. He does it every week, he doesn’t get the raps that he deserves. His work rate, his defensive effort, his carries coming out of yardage.
“I think he’s one of the most underrated players in the league because he doesn’t get the recognition.”
