Hull KR star Lachlan Coote given damning news following St Helens game

Hull KR have been rocked by the news that star fullback Lachlan Coote has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

Coote suffered a third concussion at the weekend against St Helens and the precautions are as such to leave him out until the end of 2022.

“He got another knock on his head at the weekend and that’s going to rule him out for the rest of the season,” McGuire said in his pre-match press conference.

“With the concussion protocols, he won’t be available for the rest of the year now. We need to look after him and make sure he comes through the other side.

“He’s had three concussions this year which rules him out of playing any further part this year.

“I think it’s very frustrating for Lachlan. He’s been very stop-start in his first year at the club.

“I know he’s disappointed with that, but he’s been great around the club and the boys – everything he brings on and off the field has been beneficial for us.

“But we’ve got to make sure he’s alright and get him right for a real, strong pre-season and a good start for next season when the new boss comes in and he can hit the ground running.”

Meanwhile, Sam Wood will return after having a niggling shoulder issue, but there is still no room for Tom Garratt after suffering a concussion months ago.

McGuire confirmed that whilst the former Dewsbury Rams prop has been running on the training field, he has been unable to do any kind of contact.
