Hull KR signing Rhys Kennedy to undergo minor knee surgery

Hull Kingston Rovers have announced that new signing Rhys Kennedy will undergo minor knee surgery next week in advance of the 2023 season.
KR have added a number of players from the NRL in the off-season with the likes Suaso Sue, Tom Opacic and Rhys Kennedy joining new head coach Willie Peters at Craven Park.
It’s new forward Kennedy who was set to really bolster their pack but he’s now scheduled to go under the knife next week to try and deal with a knee injury in time for the new campaign.
The club announced via their website and twitter that the new number 15, who arrived from Brisbane Broncos, will receive surgery.
“Kennedy will undergo arthroscopic knee surgery after encountering issues early in pre-season.
“The minimally invasive surgery is to clear our debris in the internal knee joint. Following surgery, the 6’5 prop will then undergo rehabilitation and aim to be fully fit by the start of the 2023 season”

The fact the surgery is being described as minor will be a huge relief to Rovers fans, but even so the big forward may face a race to get fit before their 2023 campaign starts against Wigan Warriors.
