Hull KR fans have flocked to buy tickets for their Challenge Cup clash against Hull FC but many were left disappointed.
That’s because tickets sold out in a record 12 minutes meaning those who were not on the button sharpish lost out, however, the club have announced an alternative viewing option.
It’s been over a week since the Challenge Cup quarter-finals were drawn but the excitement is still brewing in Hull as KR were drawn away against FC with the two sides meeting in the Challenge Cup for the first time since 1986.
With both having started their seasons on electric form, there is an added edge to the game and that’s helped contribute to the rapid 12-minute sell-out of tickets, but it’s not the biggest reason.
The major reason why Hull KR sold out their allocation so quickly was that the allocation was not increased from the standard 15%, with Challenge Cup games allowing for an increase to 30%. That would have given Hull KR almost 7,500 tickets but instead the figure remained 3.708.

The decision not to increase Hull KR’s allocation came following talks involving the RFL, the Stadium Management Company and Hull City Council Safety Advisory Group.
Supporter trouble at the 2023 derby at the MKM, when Hull KR beat their rivals 40-0, has influenced the decision with the Robins confirming their reduced ticket allocation previously and reminding fans of their values.
They stated: “We understand and respect the decision with supporter safety the number one priority for all.
“The behaviour of a small minority of supporters from both sides at the 2023 Hull Derby has influenced this decision. Therefore, the club wishes to reiterate its zero-tolerance stance on anti-social behaviour, with immediate season, or lifetime bans issued to any Robins supporters found to behave in a way which falls below our expectations.”

With just 3,708 fans able to watch at the MKM Stadium, Hull KR have provided their loyal supporters with an alternate way to spectate the game with the club confirming that they will open Craven Streat and show the game live on the stadium’s big screen.
The game is broadcast on the BBC but fans will be able to congregate as they would on matchdays and enjoy the atmosphere with the club issuing tickets for £10, which grants fans access and a drink, whilst also donating to the club.
Hull KR confirmed: “The club are happy to share that the Betfred Challenge Cup Quarter-Final will be shown live on the big screen in Craven Streat at Sewell Group Craven Park!
“Tickets will go on sale to Full-season Members at 6pm on Tuesday 25th March and will be one per member. Any remaining tickets will then go on sale to Non-ticketed Members at 12pm on Thursday 27th March.
“Entry to the event will cost £10 which includes a donation to the club and a free alcoholic or soft drink. Gates at Sewell Group Craven Park will open at 12:30pm and a selection of food and drink will be available.”
