Round 26 of Super League is done, and today teams will find out the outcome of the latest round of Super League disciplinary decisions.
It was a week that went some way to deciding who will make the play-offs, but it’s still all to play for, with teams still in contention both in that fight and in the fight for the League Leaders’ Shield.
Hull KR, travelling to Leigh Leopards, won 24-0 and kept Wigan Warriors looking over their shoulder, and setting up an exciting battle between the Leopards and St Helens next week where both sides may need a win.
However, Wigan Warriors, elsewhere, comfortably defeated Leeds Rhinos 38-0, making things tricky for Brad Arthur in his bid to make the top six. Thry now need to beat Wigan’s closest rivals in the table, Hull KR, next week.
The other game on Friday night saw St Helens see off a young Castleford Tigers side 40-4, putting them in a good position.
Then, on Saturday, Salford Red Devils confirmed their play-off place with a resounding 58-4 away at the MKM Stadium, handing another embarrassing moment to Hull FC.
It wasn’t the biggest win of the evening, however, as Warrington Wolves whalloped Huddersfield 66-0 in their own back yard, giving Luke Robinson plenty to think about for next week’s game against Castleford.
Finally, Catalans Dragons kept their play-off hopes alive with a narrow come-back victory over London Broncos – but not by enough to stop Hull FC going bottom on points difference.
Hull KR one of the sides sweating Super League disciplinary concerns
There may not be too many concerns this week, as only a few cards were handed out across the six games.
However, Elliot Minchella will certainly be having sleepless nights after his high shot caused many to suggest that he should have been given a red card; with it being the business end of the season, any ban could have huge consequences for the Robins.
Meanwhile, Huddersfield Giants forward Jack Billington was also sin-binned for a high shot, and might be on the receiving end of some Super League disciplinary action.
