With Hull KR confirmed to finish fifth or sixth in the final standings, Willie Peters has opted to rotate his squad ahead of the play-offs.
The Robins travel to the BrewDog Stadium on Friday night, as part of Super League’s Frantic Friday’, which sees five out of the seven games played at the same time for fairness given it’s the final round of the season.
Following their win over Huddersfield last week, the Robins have put themselves into a position where seventh-placed Saints can’t catch them, and with Saints already confirmed to miss the six, it’s a dead-rubber game for both teams, in terms of the table that is.
For two Saints players, Jonny Lomax and Mark Percival, it will be their final ever outing in a Red Vee jersey, after the pair have both confirmed their retirements. The duo headline a Saints squad that is largely made up of youngsters, though Eamon O’Carroll has been able to bring back some experienced bodies.
Another game on Friday sees Warrington Wolves take on Toulouse Olympique, and the team news for that game is also confirmed.

Matt Peet quoted as saying that he agreed wholeheartedly that WP had the right to pick the team he saw fit whilst Peet chose to pick a reserve a week before the CC final, WP picked the strongest side available and went on to thrash the Warriors 62-4 whilst KR’s reserve and academy side picked for the return match at Wigan did themselves proud keeping the score down to 46 with 12 first team players missing from their line up. Resting players has paid off for both teams, Wigan won the CC and KR have qualified for the play offs with the ability to rest the vast majority of the first team again given that the Saints game is a dead rubber, whilst when Wigan did the same it wasn’t a dead rubber.
Suck it up, teams don’t get penalised by the RFL for fielding weakened teams.
