Hull KR make major statement with Super League forward deal

Hull KR have made a major statement in the signing of a young British prop.

KR have signed up promising young prop Zach Fishwick has signed a new four-year deal keeping the 17-year-old at Sewell Group Craven Park until the end of 2026.

It’s been a whirlwind year for the former Skirlaugh Bulls’ junior, having made his first team debut last month in the Hull Derby at St. James’ Park.

The Robins first homegrown debutant in a Hull Derby since 1972, Fishwick has been a physical presence when called upon in the middle for KR, making four appearances so far in 2022.

Known for his physicality alongside his footwork and work rate, Fishwick’s journey to the first team comes after an impressive contribution to the Academy’s hot run of form in the second part of their respective season.

Fishwick was excited to secure his long-term future with the Robins and keep progressing on and off the pitch after a breakout year: “It’s been a dream to sign for the club since I was a kid. It’s great to get the opportunity to develop on the pitch and off the pitch with Hull KR.

“The club’s environment has been great since I’ve come in. It teaches you how to be a good person outside of rugby while developing on the playing side. I’m excited to keep progressing as a person and a player with KR over the next four years.”

The Robins’ incoming Head Coach, Willie Peters was delighted to reward the Hull-born prop with a new long-term deal and see him continue his development at Hull KR: “We are very pleased to secure the services of Zach Fishwick for the next four seasons.

“Zach is a talent who has bright future in front of him providing he works hard and makes the necessary sacrifices to be a successful Super League player. The long-term signing of Zach highlights the importance we have at Hull KR to develop within which is vital to sustained success.”
