Hull KR have sent a second forward out on loan in the space of two days as the Robins prepare for the launch of the Super League season.
Young forward Zach Fishwick left Craven Park on a loan deal to the Championship yesterday and now fellow prop Leo Tennison has departed the club to join League One outfit Goole Vikings.
The deal will be on a week-by-week basis as the Vikings start their season with depleted numbers in the pack.
Tennison made his Hull KR debut against Wigan in 2023 and spent most of last year between the Rovers reserve squad and a dual-registration contract with Featherstone.
Goole head coach Scott Taylor has been eager to increase their forward roster, with injuries to Jack and Harry Aldous, Lennie Bursell and Joe Phillips.
Speaking to the club’s media, he said: “Leo is a player we have been keen to bring to the club for a while and someone we think will add a lot to our team. ”
Tennison signed a two-year extension last summer to stay with the Robins until the end of 2026 as they see him as the future of their forward line.
The loan with Goole will allow the 19-year-old to get some valuable game time before the reserves set-up’s season starts on 8th March.
Taylor added: “We highlighted our front row as an area we wanted to strengthen and Leo has been top of that list for some time, so it is a good opportunity for him and us.”
At 6″4 and weighing 98kg, he’ll bring some much-needed size and physicality to the Vikings’ squad.
For Hull KR, it means another talented youngster getting some professional experience should they have any injuries to their current first-team squad.
He follows fellow Rovers reserves player Lennie Ellis, who joined Goole on a six-week loan a week ago.
Tennison goes straight into the squad for Goole’s 1895 Cup fixture against North Wales Crusaders this weekend with Taylor saying: “Leo is a big plus for us going into the weekend.”
It also marks their first-ever professional home game following their 82-0 Challenge Cup defeat to Wakefield last Saturday.
Goole’s first League 1 appearance will be another home fixture against Midlands Hurricanes on Sunday 23rd February.
