Willie Peters has provided updates on Hull KR pair Kelepi Tanginoa and Niall Evalds following their 24-0 win over Leigh Leopards.
The Robins were dominant against Adrian Lam’s play-off chasers, who had won nine times in their last 10 games prior to Friday night’s clash, with four converted tries being scored. However, they did it all without the presence of Tanginoa, who didn’t make the journey down the M62 due to injury.
Peters has confirmed that the back-rower has been struggling with a hamstring issue following last week’s loss at Wigan Warriors and wasn’t able to recover in time to feature against the Leopards. The Rovers boss couldn’t confirm whether he would be fit enough to take on Leeds Rhinos next week, either.
“He’s got a slight issue with his hamstring, so we’ll just see how that goes during the week,” Peters said at the Leigh Sports Village.
“Whether he’s okay for next week, we’re not too sure. It wasn’t too major after the game, but it got sorer as the week went on and we sent him for a scan. There’s something minor there.”
The win on Friday night came at a cost, too, with Niall Evalds, fresh back from injury, was forced off the field in the first half with a head knock, while Oliver Gildart looked uncomfortable as he was withdrawn, too.
“He’s saying he’s okay, but I need to have a better conversation with him,” Peters said of Evalds, who failed a HIA and will miss the final round of the regular season.
“I spoke to him at half-time and he said he remembers everything, but I don’t know whether he does or not. He does seem OK.”
The win means Hull KR are still in with a shout of winning the Super League Leaders’ Shield next Friday night, but in order to do so they would have to beat Leeds at Craven Park and hope Wigan Warriors slip up at home to Salford Red Devils.
