Hull KR injury update as Willie Peters outlines Arthur Mourgue and Dean Hadley fears

Hull KR head coach Willie Peters expects to be without Arthur Mourgue and Dean Hadley when the Robins go to Las Vegas next week.

Rovers won the World Club Challenge on Thursday night as they beat Brisbane Broncos 30-24 at the MKM Stadium to claim their fourth major trophy in eight months. However, the win appeared to come at a price, with Mourgue and Hadley picking up injuries during the game.

Mourgue sustained what looks to be a pectoral injury just before the half-time hooter and had to leave the field and while Peters failed to give a full prognosis when speaking after the game, he admitted he was fearing the worst for the full-back.

The head coach also admitted that Hadley, who was the man on the match on the night after making 39 tackles and 180 metres, could have picked up a fractured eye socket, which would almost certainly rule him out of the trip to Vegas, too.

“It doesn’t look good, it’s possibly a pec which is time on the sidelines and Dean Hadley has got an eye, possibly a fracture,” Peters said.

“That guy is unbelievable, staying on the field, it’s a possible fracture there.

“I hate it when players get injured because winning is great but you have to feel for the players that are injured because it looks like they’ll have some decent time on the sideline.”

Mourgue’s injury is likely to present an opportunity for Jack Broadbent to take on the number one role next week against Leeds Rhinos and beyond. Hull KR will be comfortable that they have enough pack options to replace Hadley in the side, too, should their fears be confirmed.
