Hull KR identify new transfer targets

Following Hull KR’s loss to Leeds Rhinos on Friday night, head coach Tony Smith has had to scratch his head over his side’s injury crisis.

KR lost Matt Parcell, George King, Will Maher and Will Dagger after the quartet stumbled off during the loss, with Smith keen to head into the market in a bid to rejuvenate his squad in the off-season.

“Most teams are a bit busted and struggling with injuries at this time of the year and lose some of their key players,” Smith said.

“Usually the ones who go on to win it are the ones who have their key players on the park – that’s traditionally how it goes.

“We’ve worked really hard and fought really hard, and battled in pretty much every game.

“We were a little bit off the battle, particularly in the first half, but when you’re in close games and battle hard for a whole season you’re going to pick up injuries.

“That’s why we’re doing our best to get depth within our crew for next year, so we can rotate people and afford to maybe not play people when they are busted.

“That’s a luxury we’d like to have and are working towards.”
