Hull KR head coach Willie Peters has dismissed suggestions Tyrone May could be set to leave Craven Park. May was one of the Robins‘ leading men last season as his partnership with Mikey Lewis helped carry the club all the way to their first ever Super League Grand Final.
Ultimately, it wasn’t meant to be with Wigan Warriors being victorious at Old Trafford, but there can be no denying the influence May had over the 2024 campaign. The former Catalans man scored six important tries and claimed 13 assists in his first season with the club and Rovers fans will be hoping to see him excel once more next season in east Hull.
Rumours of a potential exit, which only gathered pace following claims KR enquired about Salford Red Devils’ scrum-half Marc Sneyd, will have been a cause for concern then, despite May still having a year to run on his contract.
However, Peters has rubbished talk of May leaving Craven Park before the start of the new season with the coach confirming in an interview with Yorkshire Post that the half-back is due to return to East Yorkshire in the new year following the birth of his child.
“There’s nothing in that,” Peters told the Yorkshire Post. “His missus is having a baby within the next week and he’ll be back on January 2.”
May isn’t the only man yet to return to training at Craven Park with Mikey Lewis being given an extended period of time away after his involvement in the England squad and minor surgery.
However, encouragingly new signing Rhyse Martin has been training with Hull KR after his involvement with Papua New Guinea last month, while Micky McIlorum, Tom Davies, Bill Leyland, Jared Waerea-Hargreaves and Eribe Doro are amongst those who have been pictured training, too.
Sam Luckley could well miss the start of Hull KR’s season after undergoing wrist surgery, but he has been pictured running in training, too, in news that will come as a big boost for the Robins.

Tyrone isn’t going anywhere, more jealousy from the bottom feeding black & whites as your post shows.
If as in your sour words – if the game stinks, you’re welcome to sod off.
You won’t be missed.
