Hull KR take on Leigh Leopards on Sunday in a top-of-the-table Super League clash but how could the Robins line up?
There’s plenty to work out team news-wise for Willie Peters with Hull KR seeing one exit and one arrival this week, a pair of players returning from injury, and several others stake claims for a start after their impressive Challenge Cup win over Oldham.
The biggest news is the exit of Niall Evalds and arrival of Arthur Mourgue in a major swap at full-back, however, Peters has confirmed that Mourgue will not feature this week.
Instead, Jack Broadbent will play at full-back after impressing in recent weeks with Mourgue allowed time to bed into the club.
Asked about his choice at full-back this week, Peters said: “Jack will be our full-back for this week. Jack has earned the right to play this week. We want to ease Arthur into our system and ease him into a new environment.
“Certainly, we’ll be looking to play Arthur down the track so it’s one of those where we’re in a strong position to be able to have two good full-backs.
“At the moment Jack’s doing a great job and as I said he’ll be our full-back for this week.”
Other positive news is that there are no fresh injury concerns whilst two are set to return with Joe Burgess (hip) and Dean Hadley (HIA) both in line to be included.
On injuries, Peters said: “Not really. This time of the year, obviously it’s week to week, so players are going to have bits and pieces, but overall we’re relatively fine.”
With the likes of Eribe Doro, Bill Leyland and Lee Kershaw all debuting and impressing last week, as well as players such as Jack Brown making good on their opportunity, Peters has a tough side to pick for Sunday’s top-of-the-table clash.
So, how could Hull KR line up in that game?
Hull KR predicted line-up against Leigh Leopards
Peters has already explained that Broadbent will start at full-back so that’s one position boxed off and the rest of the backs seem quite easy to pick out too, especially now it’s been confirmed that Burgess is fit.
Tom Davies, Peta Hiku, Oliver Gildart and Joe Burgess will form that back line with the fit duo of Mikey Lewis and Tyrone May set to operate in the halves.
Peters has opted for brute force from the start in his front three of the pack with Jared Waerea-Hargreaves and Sausao Sue playing alongside Micky McIlorum, with Jez Litten spelling off the bench.
With Dean Hadley back, he will start given alongside James Batchelor Rhyse Martin’s injury, with captain Elliot Minchella locking the pack at thirteen.
Litten is a given on the bench whilst Jai Whitbread and Kelepi Tanginoa have been hugely impactful from that role, but selection for the 17th man could come down to Jack Brown, Sam Luckley, or even Eribe Doro after his impressive debut.
Hull KR predicted XIII: Jack Broadbent, Tom Davies, Peta Hiku, Oliver Gildart, Joe Burgess, Mikey Lewis, Tyrone May, Sauaso Sue, Micky McIlorum, Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, Dean Hadley, James Batchelor, Elliot Minchella
Interchanges: Jez Litten, Jai Whitbread, Kelepi Tanginoa, Sam Luckley
