Hull KR have confirmed loose-forward is the latest player to miss the start of the season through an ankle injury.

They said:

“Hull KR can confirm Elliot Minchella has sustained a minor ankle injury in training that will not require surgery. The loose forward is expected to return in mid-February.”

Minchella has been promoted to the number 13 shirt for the 2023 season after wearing the number 17 shirt recently.

This comes after it was confirmed new signing from Wakefield Trinity Yusuf Aydin had surgery that would see him miss the start if the Super League season including the Round One visit of Wigan Warriors to Craven Park which will be live on Channel 4.

It will be live on February 18th after the World Club Challenge between Penrith Panthers and St Helens.

Hopefully Minchella will be available to play against Salford Red Devils in Round Two away from home but Aydin will not be.

This is because he is out till March, as they confirmed yesterday.

They said: “Hull KR can confirm Yusuf Aydin has undergone surgery for a wrist ligament repair. The forward is expected to return to action in Mid-March.”

He will likely miss the game at home against Warrington Wolves and even the clash against Catalans Dragons but during March he should return.
