Hull KR have secured the second signing of their new era under Nathan Cayless with second-row forward Eddie Hampson confirmed as their latest recruit.
The Robins did not announce any signings whilst Willie Peters was still in charge but with the Robins’ season ending in the play-offs, Hull KR have started the transition to Nathan Cayless’ era and with that, they’ve announced new signings.
Moala Graham-Taufa was confirmed as their first signing for 2027 with the outside back signing a two-year deal and they’ve now confirmed forward Eddie Hampson on a contract of the same length.
Like Graham-Taufa, Hampson arrives from the NRL reserve grade, albeit he’s signed from the Queensland Cup instead of the New South Wales Cup. Hampson joins KR from Townsville Blackhawks, for whom he’s played all of his 69 Q Cup games.
Still only 23, Hampson is another indicator of where and how Hull KR are recruiting now, targetting the second tier of the Australian game to bring in players who can develop into stars, just as Super League Grand Finalists Wakefield Trinity have done so successfully.

Hull KR sign Eddie Hampson on two-year deal
The Robins confirmed the signing of Hampson via a press release with the 23-year-old’s impressive 2026 campaign noted. He scored 11 tries in 22 appearances whilst averaging 96 running metres per game, showcasing his attacking prowess.
With Rhyse Martin retiring, Hampson could serve as a like-for-like replacement and Nathan Cayless has described the new signing as an ‘explosive second-rower’.
Cayless said: “Eddie is an explosive second-rower who’s got plenty of speed, is a great tackle-breaker and is a try-scorer.
“He’s also a player who, more often than not, wins his collisions in the middle. He’ll definitely complement the squad we already have.
“I’ve had my eye on Eddie for a while now and he’s been performing consistently for a number of seasons.”
Hampson himself added: “I’m really excited to get over. I’ve heard so much about the club and the fans.
“From what I hear, the fans are a massive part of the club, so I want to come over, earn the team’s trust and make the fans proud too.”
