Hull KR have confirmed a massive injury blow with one of their star players set to be sidelined for four months.
The Robins have taken to social media to reveal that second-rower Rhyse Martin, who left the field injured after around 15 minutes in last Thurday’s win over Salford Red Devils, has suffered a quadricep injury.
That injury will require surgery and looks set to sign the former Leeds Rhinos man for four months meaning Martin will miss around half of the 2025 season in a massive blow.
Taking to X, Hull KR confirmed: “Hull KR can confirm second-rower, Rhyse Martin sustained a quadricep injury in the win over Salford Red Devils.
“The injury will require surgery later this week with an estimated recovery time of four months.
“We’re with you, Rhyse”
Martin joined Hull KR in the 0ff-season with Papua New Guinean international seeing his contract with Leeds end. The goal-kicking second-rower signed for the Robins after earning Dream Team honours at Headingley.
Importantly for Hull KR, he came as an elite kicker but they’ll now be without him for half the season following this injury news.
Martin was the second Hull KR man to leave the field with injury after Niall Evalds departed after just 90 seconds and Rovers coach Willie Peters spoke about those injury blows post match.
He said: “We had some adversity in the week but also in that game. We lost Niall early and Rhyse Martin then Mini (Elliot Minchella) came off with a hamstring, which is hopefully just tightness.”
The news that Martin will be sidelined for four months is a massive blow for Rovers who will put their unbeaten record on the line against St Helens on Friday night.
Forwards Sam Luckley and Jack Brown, who are yet to feature this year, could be set for larger roles as a result of losing Martin whilst Dean Hadley will likely assume a starting role as opposed to being used from the bench.
