Hull KR have confirmed a major stadium development is set to occur at Craven Park ahead of the upcoming 2025 season.
Fresh off the back of their convincing 24-0 win over Leigh Leopards, the Robins have announced that they will be extending the East Stand at Craven Park with a new 1,000-seater stand.
The club have had such high demand for tickets this season that they’ve sold out all bar two of their games and have planned for a temporary stand for next week’s home finale and their upcoming home play-off game.
It’s expected that the home play-off game will be a semi-final with Hull KR in control of their own destiny, knowing that a win over Leeds Rhinos next week or Warrington Wolves dropping points will guarantee them a top two finish.
So whilst, the next two Hull KR games will see a temporary stand that extends the capacity by 1,000, the 2025 and 2026 seasons will see a permanent extension.
Hull KR continue to show why they’re Super League’s fastest-growing club
It’s another huge milestone for the club and it shows the impressive trajectory that they are on. From relegation to the Championship to consecutive home play-off games for the first time in the Super League era, and now a major stadium development.
All of that has occurred in less than a decade and shows why Hull KR are the blueprint for teams to follow, something that Huddersfield Giants’ head coach Luke Robinson expressed recently as he cited Rovers as the team that he would like to ’emulate’.
News of the new extension for Hull KR was announced by the club via a statement.
It read: “Hull KR are pleased to announce a new 1,000-seater Wow Hydrate East Stand extension ahead of the 2025 season.
“The stand, which will be in place for the 2025 and 2026 season subject to a successful planning permission decision, will be installed in January, complete with red seats and a roof which covers the back two thirds of the stand. As part of the plans, an improved disabled viewing area will be in place, along with a new, improved and bigger Craven Streat fan zone.
“11 of 13 home games have sold out in the 2024 season, so demand is expected to be high for the new area, with the club selling almost 1,000 tickets for the temporary South Stand which has been installed for the Leeds game in just 24 hours.”
‘Bigger and better’ – Robins Chief comments on new plans
Chief Executive, Paul Lakin, added: “Huge demand for games has been a good problem to have. Big games have been selling out weeks in advance, so we are confident there is strong appetite for this new East Stand block.
“We have been working with the Hull City Council Safety Advisory Group to ensure the plans not only allow us to increase the capacity, but enable future permanent developments, and make sure we can still run 25,000 capacity concerts. We are therefore confident with our due diligence that planning permission will be granted.
“As part of the plans, we are also excited to announce plans to improve the hugely popular Craven Streat fan zone to make it bigger and better than ever!
“On behalf of the players, staff and board of directors, I’d like to thank supporters for their incredible support at home and on the road throughout 2024. The noise and passion you have brought has made Sewell Group Craven Park the place to be on a Friday night and we are all looking forward to a big atmosphere at home against Leeds and in the playoffs.”
