Hull KR head coach Willie Peters was unable to confirm whether Dean Hadley would be fit to feature in the World Club Challenge next week.
Hadley was named in the starting line up for the Robins on Thursday night but could be seen pulling himself out of the warm up and heading down the tunnel around half an hour before kick-off.
The news filtered through that he would feature in the contest against York Knights, which KR lost 19-18, with Jack Brown being promoted from 18th man to step straight into the line-up.
And, speaking after the game, Peters confirmed that the forward has been struggling with a rib issue, with a pre-game pain killing injection ultimately being unsuccessful. The injury left Rovers short through the middle on the night, but it also means Hadley is a doubt for Thursday’s World Club Challenge against Brisbane Broncos at the MKM Stadium.
“Dean had a rib issue, and then he got an injection that didn’t work,” Peters said when asked about the versatile forwards’ condition. “It didn’t have the effect that we thought it would and he obviously didn’t take to the field. We’re not sure on him, we’ll have to wait and see.
“I just hope he’s okay, because he’s an important part to what we do.
Peters’ heart will have been in his mouth during the first minutes of the game, too, as Jez Litten was forced off for a HIA following a blow to head. He passed those tests and was allowed back into the contest shortly after.
The head coach has confirmed that Litten is OK, while he also believes that Tom Amone should be fit enough to make his debut for the Robins on Thursday night after overcoming the hand issue he picked up in pre-season.
“Jez Litten is fine, he got through the game. Tom Amone should be fine, and it depends how everyone comes out of York,” Peters added.
