Hull KR are reportedly ‘chasing’ an NRL star for 2026 with the playmaker potentially set to be a Tyrone May replacement.
May is among Hull KR’s major players without a deal for 2026 but head coach Willie Peters revealed to Serious About Rugby League last week that the ex-NRL man has “ambitions to go back to Australia”.
One of the motivators for that is his desire to play with his brothers with Terrell having signed a big deal with Wests Tigers whilst Taylan is without a club after leaving Penrith last year.
Peters admitted Hull KR would “see where we’re at” should May change his mind, adding: “We know what Tyrone wants to do so we can sit and wait for a while but it’s one of those where if an opportunity comes up that we think is worthwhile then we’ll certainly look at it.”
Reports Down Under now seem to suggest that an ‘opportunity’ has come up and that is in the form of Adam Reynolds, Brisbane Broncos’ off-contract veteran half who Willie Peters is named as “chasing”.

Those are the words of Phil Rothfield writing for The Daily Telegraph where it’s explained that Brisbane’s high-powered roster might mean the club don’t have the salary cap space to re-sign Reynolds for 2026.
Brisbane have signed the likes of Reece Walsh, Pat Carrigan and Ezra Mam on a combined $3 million whilst stars including Payne Haas and Selwyn Cobbo, who are both much younger, are also off-contract at the end of the year.
They will command major money and as such, Reynolds could be forced out of the door and that will would open the door for Hull KR, and others to chase his signature.
Rothfield reports: “It can be revealed Hull Kingston Rovers coach Willie Peters is chasing Reynolds to play in the UK Super League,” with that move likely being a like-for-like swap in terms of quota players with Tyrone May.
Reynolds reportedly does not want to play for a different NRL side leaving Rothfeidl to assess that “the Hull Kingston Rovers opportunity might be the way to go”.
Reynolds would be 35 but would offer an immense amount to the Robins in quality but also leadership and culture, which the club have nailed in recent years when recruiting from the NRL.
Stars such as Shaun Kenny-Dowall and Jared Waerea-Hargreaves have all bought into what it means to be at Hull KR and Reynolds could be the next.
