Concussion and head problems in rugby league continue to be a major focal point within the fraternity.
With concussion protocols becoming ever more stringent as the governing body attempts to crackdown on potential problems further in life, it has impacted a number of players in their recovery.
For one Hull KR player, Tom Garratt, he has had a number of concussion symptoms that haven’t cleared up in the past month and head coach Tony Smith has revealed that the former Dewsbury Rams forward is set for more tests.
“Tom Garratt has another test he saw a consultant last week in London,” Smith said.
“He has got to go have another scan to check something out that may or may not be part of the problem.
“It’s not straightforward and I would say consultants are having to rule out different things and making sure everything has been accounted for and certain things aren’t happening.
“I can’t put a diagnosis on it but he seems to be better at the moment with less frequent symptoms.”
There was further bad news for KR with Brad Takairangi ruled out for the rest of the season with a hamstring tear, but Mikey Lewis will be back in the next few weeks.
