Hull KR boss Tony Smith confirms Jordan Abdull is out for the season with horror injury

Hull KR head coach Tony Smith has confirmed every Robins’ fan worst nightmares in today’s pre-match press conference.

KR will take on Castleford Tigers on Sunday afternoon, but they will have to do without talisman Jordan Abdull.

And, the halfback he will be out for the rest of the season Smith revealed.

“Jordan is the worst of them in terms of injury, he saw a consultant last night and he has got a significant tear in his quad and a little bit of ligament attachment in that area,” Smith said.

“It can either be a lengthy repair by itself and not guarantee it’s going to recover or a lengthy repair with surgery.

“Jordan will probably get the operation which will end his season, but it’s about a 16-week recovery for that operation – that’s a massive blow.”

Smith did reveal that Frankie Halton will make his return in the next few weeks, with Elliot Minchella’s injury not as worse as first thought.

The former Bradford Bulls forward is expected to return in just over a week despite scans revealing at first that it could be a lengthy issue.
