Willie Peters has provided an injury update on Hull KR stars Jez Litten and Joe Burgess.
The Robins, who defeated Leigh Leopards last night to remain third in Super League, had to take the win without England international Litten, who was sent for scans after the win over York Knights.
That meant that Karl Lawton started the game at nine, with Bill Leyland coming off the bench. The former London man crossed for a try in the win, powering over from close range and taking multiple Leigh defenders over the line with him.
To make matters worse, winger Burgess suffered a shoulder injury minutes into the second half, which caused further reshuffles.
Peta Hiku shifted to the wing, whilst Lawton took a place in the centres. The Robins already had Rhyse Martin covering in the back line after Oliver Gildart missed this week due to concussion protocols.
Peters has now provided an update on the pair, with Burgess’ blow not being as bad as first thought.
Speaking to BBC Radio Humberside post-match, he said: “I don’t think it’s too bad. We’ve just got to wait and see what happens in the next couple of days. The first sort of reports, it’s not too bad.”
On Litten, Peters revealed: “No, he wasn’t [close to playing]. He didn’t train the other day [Tuesday] when I had media.
“Then it was just a matter of seeing where he was at, but he didn’t improve during the week so pretty much from that next day that he wasn’t going to get there.
“It’s just ligaments and a lot of swelling. There’s nothing major, and he’s been for scans.”
Peters didn’t reveal whether either of the two would be fit to take on Leeds Rhinos next week, in what is a huge clash at the top of Super League and a Las Vegas rematch, where the Robins will be looking to seek revenge on Brad Arthur’s men.
