Hull KR boss Willie Peters has revealed Oliver Gildart is expected to miss the next four months of action with a knee injury.
The centre limped out of last week’s Magic Weekend clash with Salford Red Devils and speaking on Wednesday afternoon, the Robins head coach failed to rule Gildart out of their Challenge Cup semi-final clash against Catalans Dragons. However, Gildart has seen a specialist since and he has now been ruled out for up to 16 weeks.
That means KR will be without him when they take on either Warrington Wolves or Leigh Leopards at Wembley Stadium next month and as he prepares to go under the knife, he looks set to miss a significant chunk of the campaign.
Hull KR boss on Oliver Gildart injury blow
“Unfortunately, he’s going to be 16 weeks,” Peters told the press after his side’s Challenge Cup semi-final win over Catalans Dragons.
“We got news late in the week which is not great for us or Gilly because he’s been outstanding. I think a few of you guys might have had him in the Dream Team, that’s how good he has been. What we can’t do is forget what he’s done but he’s going to be out for a period of time, so we’ve got to get around him and get him back healthy, whenever that is.
“Basically, he’s got to go for an operation next week and it’s either going to be two months or four months. They’ll go in and decide if he needs this repair or that repair. But everything leans towards sixteen weeks.
“Naturally it’s going to hurt but what we’ll make sure whoever plays is ready to go. But of course, because we’ve lost two players who are cup tied, Noah Booth would have been considered, Arthur Mourgue is cup tied, that’s three players in a week. Obviously we don’t have Rhyse Martin. We’ll be challenged in that aspect but you can’t control that type of stuff, you’ve just got to play what’s in front of you.”

Poor lad, nasty injury. I hope he makes a full recovery.
