Hull KR boss Willie Peters has confirmed that Arthur Mourgue will be fit enough to play in Saturday’s Grand Final.
The French full-back took a blow in the closing stages of Saturday’s play-off semi-final win over St Helens at Craven Park and had to be forced off the field. As such, to those outside Craven Park, he was rated as a doubt heading into Saturday’s all or nothing clash with a treble on the line.
However, Peters has confirmed that Mourgue has recovered well and he’ll be free to take on Wigan Warriors at Old Trafford.
The head coach couldn’t say the same about Micky McIlorum, though, who is pushing to return from the ankle injury he picked up in mid-August.
The hooker was named in the squad for the semi-final last week but wasn’t fit to play and Peters couldn’t confirm whether he’d be ready this time around. Of course, McIlorum will be retiring at the end of the season, and Peters has spoken of his desire to see the veteran play one more game before bowing out.
“Arthur is fine and Micky we’ll give him till the end of the week,” Peters said during the Grand Final press conference at Old Trafford.
“It’s the same as last week, it flared up again. It’s going to be how he pulls up. He got through the session last week so we’ll see how he goes later in the week.”
