Hull KR head coach Willie Peters has given his early thoughts on the injury sustained by Mikey Lewis against Wakefield Trinity.
It was the second week in a row where Hull KR limped through in a game that they were heavy favourites in as the Robins only won 14-12 against Wakefield.
Trinity were at home in Super League for the first time since Hull KR hammered them at the back end of 2023 but it was quickly very clear that there would be no repeat of that, despite the Robins opening the scoring early.
It was Mikey Lewis creating as his kick saw Tom Davies score after just six minutes but Wakefield hung in and went in at the break just 6-2 down.
Trinity hit back through Tom Johnstone before Mikey Lewis scored and injured himself in one action with the Man of Steel forcing his way through at the cost of his right ankle, which was then heavily strapped.
Lewis tried to continue but was forced off and then seen in a boot and on crutches, something that will worry Hull KR fans and their head coach Willie Peters gave his verdict post-match on Sky Sports.

Speaking as footage of the injury played, Peters admitted: “It doesn’t look too good at the moment but hopefully we’ll wait and see. We’ll just wait and see.”
The Robins were without Lewis’ playing partner Tyrone May for the game with the former NRL man injured, something that forced Lewis into a more central role with the ball in his hands.
Peters explained that he was impressed with how Lewis took to the new role but conceded that the major focus right now is how his ankle fares.
On that role, Peters said: “It was new to him. He had a couple of kicks that produced seven-tackle sets but he’d do that anyway. He’s going to get a lot of learning from that tonight.
“I think he’s ready for it. He wants to touch the ball and he wants to run. He had a few kicks and last plays he’d want to take back but it’s part of his learning.”
He then added: “I just hope his ankle is okay.”
