Hull KR head coach Willie Peters has spoke after his side’s resounding 42-0 win over Salford Red Devils to give an injury update.
Within that update, Peters confirmed three injuries sustained by Hull KR in the game but also provided more positive news on the recovery of starting halves Tyrone May and Mikey Lewis.
May missed the win over Wakefield Trinity but was named in the 21-man squad for last night’s clash before being omitted from the match day 17 whereas Mikey Lewis was confirmed out after his injury last week against Wakefield.
As such, Danny Richardson was joined in the halves by Peta Hiku with Jez Litten also spending some time there but Peters has given a positive update about both May and Lewis in regards to the upcoming clash against St Helens.
Speaking post-match on Sky Sports, Peters said: “All going well for Tyrone, he’ll be back next week but he’s just got to get through the week and Mikey is a possibility of being back next week as well.
“He’s responded really well but now we step it up and see whether he can play but with Tyrone, we’d like to think that he’ll be okay.”

It would be a massive boost to have one or even both men back, however, Peters will have plenty of faith in Danny Richardson who put in a Man of the Match performance against the Red Devils.
Richardson kicked six of seven goals whilst also creating a couple of others with the half required to kick when Rhyse Martin left the field injured in the first half, shortly after Niall Evalds who failed a HIA after just 90 seconds.
Speaking on his joy at winning despite the injuries, Peters said: “It was very pleasing. We had some adversity in the week but also in that game. We lost Niall early and Rhyse Martin then Mini (Elliot Minchella) came off with a hamstring, which is hopefully just tightness.
“We had Joe Burgess at half time who was possibly not going to go back so he did a really good job as well so I’m really really happy with the performance.”
Evalds will miss the game against St Helens on account of his failed HIA but there will be nervy waits on each of Martin, Minchella and even Burgess, however, Hull KR fans will have much more confidence on the back of a dominant performance.
Part of that dominance came through classy Robins play but a lot came down to Salford being inept and ill-disciplined, something that head coach Paul Rowley hammered them for.
As for Peters, he said: “I just looked at us, I’m happy with what we did and I’ll focus on that.
“It’s probably not a Salford performance, I will say that. Salford are a lot better than how they performed tonight so next week or the week after they’ll certainly bounce back But I’m just happy with what we did.”
The win sent Hull KR top of the table with three wins from three, something that the club had never done before in Super League and Peters noted the importance of ticking off the milestones.
He revealed: “We actually spoke about that before the game, the little milestones along the way that you’ve always got to celebrate. It’s a tough challenge next week against St Helens but one that we’re looking forward to.”

We’ve never won three games from three??? Really shoddy reporting. It should be – we’ve never won the first three matches of the season.
