Hull KR announce first ever sponsor of their women’s team ahead of Championship season

There has been a landmark moment for Hull KR women’s team with Atropa Blood Clinic confirmed as their first-ever team sponsor.

Ahead of 2022, it was announced the women’s structure would move from the Community Trust to the club’s remit to offer the team greater support. The move will see the side benefit from the infrastructure in place for the first team and academy, as they look ahead to their first-ever Championship season following promotion last year.

Speaking on the partnership, Hull KR Chief Executive Paul Lakin has hailed Atropa for their support of the women’s game.

“Today is a proud moment. When we brought the women’s teams under the club remit, we made a commitment to give it the support and resource it needs to become a Super League side. Atropa’s support will allow us to invest in the program and give the team everything they need ahead of a big year of Championship rugby.

Atropa have been fantastic supporters of the Rugby League community, including as principal partners of Hull FC. We are pleased to secure their support and help them further their reach and impact across the City.”

The partnership will see Atropa Blood Clinic positioned in the main shirt position, with additional branding and support across any women’s social media content.

Atropa Managing Director Bryn Smales sees the partnership as a platform to promote the clinic’s services across the area and said: “At Atropa Blood Clinic we’re all about bringing people together and promoting healthy living by being proactive rather than reactive. After a long pandemic of Covid testing, we can now give something back to our local community by supporting projects and sports teams that can showcase our name and align with our values.

“We are proud and excited to be the main shirt sponsor for the Hull KR Women’s team and look forward to cheering them on as they prepare for their first season in the RFL Women’s Championship.

“Like ourselves, The Robins are proud to be part of the local community and I see our partnership with the club’s female hubs as a great opportunity to connect and engage with fans and businesses in the area.

“The progress the Women’s squad has made over the past few years is incredible and we look forward to strengthening our ties with the club, both on the playing side and out in the community that they so actively support.

“The club is making great strides in women’s rugby and we want to be a part of that journey. Being able to support a club that’s got such high ambitions and has the potential to achieve them makes perfect sense to us.

“It’s a thrilling new venture for us and we are looking forward to a very successful partnership over the coming season.”
