Hull KR have struck a dual registration deal with rugby league’s newest professional club Goole Vikings for the 2025 season.
The Vikings had purposely left their dual reg options open as the start of the new League One season approaches, but the club have now decided to partner with local Super League outfit KR. The deal ensures Rovers‘ fringe and youth players will be given the chance to get out and secure game time in the lower leagues.
It also gives Goole the opportunity to bolster Scott Taylor’s group with a number of promising players from Craven Park, with Leo Tennison and Lennie Ellis already making the loan switch.
The pair featured for Goole in their 1895 Cup win over North Wales Crusaders at the weekend and they’re expected to be involved this weekend when the club host Midlands Hurricanes in their regular season opener at the Victoria Pleasure Ground.
The partnership will also give local players within the Vikings system the opportunity to play reserve grade matches for the Robins.
“This is a good opportunity for both clubs, as we continue to build a strong and competitive squad, whilst further enhancing our commitment to seeing players progress within East Yorkshire,” head coach Taylor said about the agreement.
“We have a good relationship with all the local clubs and this becomes an extension of that, giving us the opportunity to utilise Hull KR players when required, and also providing them with a competitive and professional environment in which they can develop their game away from the rigours of week in-week out Super League.
“We have a good squad at the Vikings and they will remain our priority, but this partnership will allow us to make quality additions to our group, as and when required, as we’ve seen with the impact of Lennie Ellis and Leo Tennison in recent weeks.”
Goole are likely to call on the partnership on a regular basis throughout the League One campaign as they look to make a splash in their first year as a professional entity.
