Hull KR and Wigan Warriors sweating biggest Super League disciplinary verdict of the season

As Hull KR and Wigan Warriors look ahead to the Super League Grand Final, both sides await the biggest disciplinary verdict of the year.

Both sides have felt the wrath of the Super League disciplinary system at times this season with Hull KR missing captain Elliot Minchella for their final game of the regular season and their recent semi-final victory over Warrington Wolves. The Robins will now have their talisman back but Willie Peters will be hoping that no more bans rear their ugly heads.

As for Wigan Warriors, they saw both Adam Keighran and Tyler Dupree slapped with three-game bans ahead of the Challenge Cup Final and whilst Saturday’s win over Leigh Leopards looked to be fairly rudimentary in terms of disciplinary woes, Matt Peet and his players will still be anxious of today’s Match Review Panel.

The Match Review Panel will convene and discuss all incidents from both games, not that there were many with only one yellow card distributed across both semi-finals.

So who could be the players potentially facing the wrath of the Match Review Panel and earning an untimely ban?

Tyler Dupree was the only man to be shown a yellow card but the Wigan forward was sent to the sin bin late on for kicking the ball away and therefore slowing down the restart, not something that is likely to see any disciplinary retribution.

Aside from Dupree’s misdemeanours, there was very little to look at in the Wigan and Leigh clash but the same cannot be said for Hull KR’s win over Warrington which saw several flashpoints.

At the heart of those was Mikey Lewis who certainly got under the skin of John Bateman in particular as well as England skipper George Williams, with whom he had a coming together.

Williams approached referee Liam Moore and argued that such actions were the result of a high-intensity play-off match and Moore promptly sent both Williams and James Batchelor as captains away to address their teams and calm matters down.

That seemed to work and it would be a huge shock to see any punishment handed out for either man but one player who could be on the end of the disciplinary wrath and a possible charge ahead of the Super League Grand Final is Peta Hiku.

The Kiwi was penalised for a late hit on George Williams but that incident was also a tip tackle, something that has been penalised with suspension throughout the season but the centre’s good disciplinary record should play in his favour.

Both sides will nervously await this afternoon’s Match Review Panel verdict.

Will referee Moore be in front of the disciplinary? for sending up a Try to the video referee, without true evidence (Should have gone to Specsaversers) and try the Hull KR try scorers, for telling Sky commentators straight after the final whistle, “He did NOT TOUCH THE BALL DOWN” The RFL needs Immediately allowing the match referee referee when he refers to try to the Video Referee, to Make Any Ruling!

Just hope he’s not the ref Saturday as he will spoil a good game… if it was on the of end you would be saying the same there is no way that should of been sent up as a try… for a start Moore was on the left side of the line and by the time he got to the incident the ball was up in the air so how he got try is Ludacris.. but like you say it’s gone now move on… what was all that about players crying and screaming celebrating like they have won the cup.. you watch wigan day after just got the job done and awaiting Saturday to do the same if hull have any chance of winning GF wigan will have be bad and hull will have play like wigan do.. but can’t see wigan losing this they are far to good strong and skilful for hill on the day
