Hull KR 6-16 Hull FC: Highlights, player ratings and talking points

Hull FC gained a measure of revenge for their derby humiliation earlier this year with a vital win in the play-off battle

Highlights:

Robins start fast
After some early pressure from Hull FC it was the Robins who struck first as Mikey Lewis wriggled through the tackles to offload to find Jack Walker on his home debut against his former club to strike first.

Swift by name and Swift by nature
Having trailed 6-0 at the break, Hull FC needed to strike first and that they did with a great Cam Scott offload releasing Adam Swift who then wrong footed Jack Walker to score.

Missed penalty
Hull KR then had the chance to retake the lead when Rowan Milnes had a penalty shot at goal dragging the kick wide from far out.

SKD YCed
Shaun Kenny-Dowall was then sin binned as he chased a Jez Litten kick taken by Jake Clifford and he caught him high.

Sao storms over
Whilst down a man, despite some good play by the Robins, a probing run from Brad Dwyer enticed the defenders allowing him to pop the ball to Ligi Sao to score.

Close calls for Hull KR
There were two close calls for the Robins. The first came as Jack Walker carved through with a great run only to be stopped short. Then a grubber kick from Tom Opacic was picked up by Matt Parcell who touched down but was penalised for double movement.

Swift seals it
Then with three and a half minutes left a great move down the left saw Adam Swift scamper in and seal the win for the Black and Whites.

Talking Points:

Crucial calls
There were a number of big calls that went against the Robins such as a knock on call before Swift’s second try of the game as well as a no try call against Matt Parcell,

Hull FC character
The Black and Whites showed great character in the second stanza of the game to battle back and see out the game.

Play-off battle truly on
After today’s result Hull FC are well and truly in the mix to make the play-offs in 2023 which once seemed unlikely.
