Hull KR 22-16 Toulouse Olympique: Highlights, player ratings and talking points

Hull KR took on Toulouse Olympique tonight at Craven Park live on Sky Sports.

Hull KR started the brightest of the two sides with Elliot Minchella crossing the whitewash first before the French side slowly clawed their way back into the game.

Matty Russell and Daniel Alvaro crossed before the half-time break to send Toulouse into a 12-6 lead.

And, Latrell Schaumkel dotted down following the resumption to make it 16-6.

Ethan Ryan managed to dot down from a superb Rowan Milnes kick to bring the home side back to within six and Frankie Halton eventually brought them level with a scintillating score after a brilliant break by Shaun Kenny-Dowall.

The momentum was firmly with the hosts, now, and Milnes was able to cross with five minutes to go from a scrum to strike a dagger into the hearts of Toulouse.

Highlights

Rowan Milnes’ weavy run and kick to the corner for Ethan Ryan’s try was sensational.

Frankie Halton’s try was utter class with nine minutes to go that all came from a Shaun Kenny-Dowall break.

Talking points

1. Toulouse have enough to stay up

They have been off the bottom of the table just twice this season, but on this evidence, Toulouse have enough to stay up in Super League in 2022. They are fast and strong going forward, it’s just their leakiness in defence that has caused problems. Solve that before the end of the year and Sylvain Houles’ men will shock a few more this season.

2. Hull KR wasteful

Hull KR had plenty of good ball in good areas, but time and time again the Robins made errors that halted their good attacking play. Toulouse didn’t make too many errors whilst Rovers looked determined to lose the game – that was up until the last ten minutes when KR came in at a canter.
