Hull KR 16-4 Hull FC: Highlights, player ratings and talking points

Hull KR took on Hull FC for one of the most highly-anticipated Hull derbies in years at Craven Park.

It was 4-4 at half-time courtesy of a Josh Reynolds try for FC and a Ryan Hall try for KR, but Rovers extended their lead in the second-half with two tries in six minutes when Lachlan Coote crossed.

That’s how the score remained as Rovers earned the superb bragging rights.

Highlights

Ryan Hall grabbing his 217th try in Super League.

Ethan Ryan scything through the Hull defence to send Lachlan Coote away for his second try.

Talking points

1. Jake Connor off day

When he’s on, he’s on. But Jake Connor was outplayed by his opposite number Lachlan Coote and made a number of mistakes as FC were simply not good enough for a rampant KR. It’s that consistency that Shaun Wane wants to see as England boss.

2. How good Hull KR?

Not only was Craven Park a sell-out, the Robins were superb. The East Yorkshire club is certainly on the up and look like one of the most promising sides in Super League when they are on. Without their diminutive Mikey Lewis, some might have believed Rovers would have struggled. But, Rowan Milnes was brilliant at halfback too.

3. Hodgson’s halves

Josh Reynolds and Luke Gale just don’t look together and it’s a partnership that isn’t working at present. In fact, Hull looked better when Joe Lovodua and Ben McNamara were on the field earlier in the season and Brett Hodgson may look back to that partnership.
