Hull FC’s away Challenge Cup tie facing difficulties after stadium venue delay

Hull FC’s away Challenge Cup tie is facing difficulties after controversy over the stadium host.

Sheffield Eagles have been drawn at home against the Black and Whites in the sixth round of the showpiece event, but delays to the construction of the club’s new home stadium on the Olympic Legacy Park site has left the venue unavailable for the tie which will take place over the weekend of March 25-27.

Head coach at Sheffield, Mark Aston, told The Sheffield Star this morning: “I haven’t got a Scooby Doo (where it will take place), we are on that now. Hopefully we will know by the end of today or tomorrow.

“It won’t be at our home ground. We will ask a few questions in and around Sheffield. We might end up having to take it outside the city, which is sad leading up to the World Cup.”

Doncaster’s Eco Power stadium is one venue being considered to host the tie with Hull and Aston has fond memories of that stadium.

“We know it’s a good facility and we can make it work there,” Aston added.
