Hull FC have confirmed the departure of a young forward from the club with immediate effect.
In a short statement today, they announced: “Hull FC can confirm that young forward Kye Armstrong has departed the club.
“The 20-year old loose-forward, who’s first-team contract has come to an end, departs the club in search of playing opportunities elsewhere in the game.
“The Hull FC Academy product has featured regularly for the club’s reserves side in recent years.
“The club wishes Kye the very best for his next chapter in Rugby League and beyond.”
Hull FC youngster departs with immediate effect
Armstrong moved into the reserves side in 2022 from the scholarship side.
He has been a part of the first-team squad for the past couple of seasons but has never made a Super League appearance.
In 2024, he made his senior debut for Midlands Hurricanes in RFL League One in a defeat to Keighley Cougars, and then played again in another defeat to Oldham a week later towards the end of the season, being on loan.
In an Instagram post, Armstrong said: “It’s been a pleasure over the past few years but now it’s time for a new chapter in my life.
“Big thanks to @hullfcofficial for the opportunities given. Over and out.”
He’ll now be looking for a new club to sign for, and may look to an RFL Championship or League One side in search of playing opportunities.
Incredibly, this is the 20th departure from the Black and Whites in 2024, with high-profile names such as Nu Brown, Jake Trueman and Carlos Tuimavave part of the group of departing players.
Hull Live is also reporting that further departures are on the way, with Jack Walker, Liam Tindall, and Morgan Smith being told to find new clubs despite being contracted for the 2025 season.
