Hull FC vs Salford Red Devils team news with 10 ruled out and four doubts

Tom Briscoe of Hull FC in Super League disciplinary

Salford Red Devils can make sure of their place in the Super League play-offs this afternoon with a win at Hull FC. Paul Rowley’s side dropped down to fifth in the table on Friday night with St Helens’ win over Castleford Tigers seeing them leapfrog the Red Devils.

However, Salford know that a win over the Black and Whites, who have picked up just three victories all season, will be enough to extend their season and it would also put them in pole position for a home play-off tie in the first knockout round.

Hull have very little to play for at this point of the season, but they’ll be determined to give their fans something to cheer before the end of the campaign and avoid collecting the wooden spoon.

Here’s a look at the team news going into that contest.

Hull FC team news

Simon Grix has made four changes to his 21-man squad with Davy Litten, Ed Chamberlain, Leon Ruan and Ryan Westerman coming into the fold.

Litten has spent two months on the sidelines with a knee problem but could make a return to action this afternoon, while Ed Chamberlain has overcome a shoulder issue.

The Black and Whites do have fresh injury concerns, though, with Ligi Sao dropping out of contention with a ankle problem, while Tom Briscoe is struggling with illness. Jed Cartwright also misses out as he serves a one-match ban.

Liam Sutcliffe (foot), Jake Trueman (calf), Nick Staveley (knee), Charlie Severs (shoulder) and King Vuniyayawa (ankle) remain sidelines at the MKM Stadium.

Salford Red Devils team news

Paul Rowley has been able to welcome back Loghan Lewis into his squad this week with the Australian overcoming a groin injury to make the journey to East Yorkshire.

He’s joined in the squad by Ben Hellewell, who has overcome his fitness issues. Sam Stone won’t play, though, after being withdrawn from the action last week against Catalans Dragons. Amir Bourouh isn’t involved either while Matty Foster continues to recover from a leg injury.
