Hull FC vs Castleford Tigers: Team news, match preview and score prediction

After spoiling Daryl Powell’s return to Castleford, former Hull FC boss and now Cas boss Lee Radford will be hoping for a happier return to the MKM Stadium.

It’s a game that in some ways could virtually secure the Tigers’ status in the top six, maybe even the top five as it could enable them to open up a four point gap on the chasing pack.

One of the chasing pack is of course Hull FC who simply can’t afford to lose more ground in the race.

Team News

Jake Connor is back for Hull FC in the major news at the MKM Stadium. Ligi Sao, Kane Evans, Jordan Johnstone and Connor Wynne are all back from bans. It’s not all good news with Chris Satae and Josh Griffin out through injury.

Castleford make two changes to their squad with Niall Evalds dropping out with a shoulder injury and Cheyse Blair banned. Youngsters Sam Hall and Cain Robb come into the squad as their replacements.

Match Preview – Key Battles:

Luke Gale vs Danny Richardson: Luke Gale takes on the man who replaced him at the Jungle in Danny Richardson. Both have enjoyed highs and lows since they were involved in that transfer merry-go-round in 2020 and both can guide their teams. Who will give their team the edge this week?

Jack Brown vs Joe Westerman: Two very different loose-forwards clash tomorrow. Jack Brown will look to give Hull extra bite in the middle whilst Westerman’s skills will look to stretch his former club’s defence.

Where the game will be won and lost:

Down the middle these two are generally equally matched but the absences suffered by Hull FC could open the door for Castleford to get an edge down the middle. Should they do so and then get the ball in the hands of Westerman and co, they could ease to victory.

Score Prediction: Hull FC 16-34 Castleford Tigers
