Hull FC v St Helens team news as Black and Whites given big injury boost

Hull FC

Hull FC back-rower Jed Cartwright is on the verge of making a long awaited return to action this weekend.

The Australian has missed a huge chunk of the season through injury but he has been named in the 21-man squad to take on St Helens this weekend at the MKM Stadium and his return would come as a huge boost.

Cartwright has made just four appearances for the Black and Whites this season, with three of those coming in Super League. While he did impress during that spell, his last outing for the club came on March 21 against Wakefield Trinity when he picked up the hamstring injury.

Head coach John Cartwright will be delighted to see him fit enough to be named in the 21-man squad then and while he stopped short of confirming he will play when speaking to the press on Wednesday afternoon, he stands a good chance, it seems.

The return of Cartwright represents the only change in Hull’s squad with Will Hutchinson dropping out of the fold.

St Helens boss Paul Wellens has made no changes to his 21-man squad, with Harry Robertson and Curtis Sironen included. Sironen missed the game against Salford Red Devils due to a back issue but looks likely to be included, while Robertson, who was called up for England this week, was withdrawn through precaution.
