Will Pryce has been named in John Cartwright’s Hull FC squad to take on Hull KR this weekend at the MKM Stadium. The two sides go head to head in the Challenge Cup for the first time since 1986 and with the pair occupying Super League’s top two places, anticipation for the fixture has gone into overdrive.
More than 18,000 tickets have been sold and that already makes it the biggest Cup quarter-final attendance since 1989 and the club’s biggest home Cup crowd since 1961.
And, it seems those fans could be in line to watch Pryce’s first run out in black and white, with the half-back arriving at the club earlier this week. The 22-year-old’s inclusion is one of four changes made by Cartwright this week with Hull boosted by the returns of Zak Hardaker and Yusuf Aydin.
Hardaker missed last week’s win over Castleford Tigers due to a minor issue, while Aydin hasn’t played since the draw with Leigh Leopards at the start of last month.
Dropping out of the fold is Liam Watts, who is cup-tied, Cade Cust, who has a head injury, Will Hutchinson and Lloyd Kemp. Callum Kemp is the only other name to come into Cartwright’s side.
Hull KR man James Batchelor has been ruled out of the tie, meaning Willie Peters will have to shuffle his back-row this weekend. He’ll be a big miss but the club have Kelepi Tanginoa ready to step in and replace Batchelor in the starting line-up.
Arthur Mourgue also misses out after featuring for Catalans Dragons earlier in the competition.
