Hull FC trio of brutal table-topping stats after Magic Weekend

Hull FC fans

Hull FC suffered perhaps their most humiliating defeat of the season this weekend, the wrong side of a 29-4 scoreline against London Broncos.

They’ve already dispatched of players such as Tex Hoy and Nu Brown, while head coach Tony Smith was removed from his post also.

The Black and Whites are now level on points with bottom side London Broncos, after just three wins all season each, but are just ahead on points difference.

They’re facing the very real possibility of finishing bottom, but luckily for them, IMG reforms mean they won’t be relegated to the RFL Championship due to their grading.

All year, FC have struggled with disciplinary issues – with Nu Brown’s early-season red card setting the tone for a long campaign.

They’ve received four red cards this season – the most of any side, ahead of Huddersfield Giants and Wigan Warriors on three each.

In addition to this, they’ve been handed the most yellow cards, with 16, followed by Leigh Leopards and Salford Red Devils with 15.

This, of course, means they’ve spent the most time of any team in the league down to 12 men, putting more pressure on them defensively as well as making it trickier to get up the field themselves.

Previous to the latest round of bans handed out, Wigan were ahead of them as the side with the most games in bans handed out this year, but with the duo of Denive Balmforth and Ligi Sao both receiving sanctions for Dangerous Contact, they’re now level with them on 20.

Three bans were handed out – to Ligi Sao, Herman Ese’ese and Franklin Pele – in the first game of the year.

This is just another unwanted stat for Hull FC this year, who may now just be hoping for John Cartwright and their numerous signings (largely from Leigh Leopards) to make 2025 a more exciting season.
