Tonight Hull FC hosted Huddersfield Giants in their final home game of the season having lost to Leeds Rhinos the last time out at the MKM Stadium which ended their play off hopes dead in the water.
Huddersfield Giants’ play off hopes ended as well after defeats to Leigh Leopards and Hull KR.
So this was a dead rubber but no doubt had an impact on either club’s optimism going into 2024.
The Giants started well striking within the first four minutes through Jermaine McGillvary whose exit from the club looms.
This came as Kevin Naiqama batted the ball to the powerful winger with Jake Connor converting to make it 6-0.
Tex Hoy hit back after five minutes to level matters before former Giant Darnell McIntosh crossed to take the Black and Whites 10-6 ahead.
That was cancelled out by a try for Esan Marsters as he powered over from a crash ball likewise Seb Ikahihifo powered over from close range to make it 16-10 at halftime.
Just after halftime it was game back on as Andre Savelio scored to make it 16-14 but Kevin Naiqama hit back for the Giants to make it 22-14 this was when the Giants kicked on with Naiqama scoring a second after great play from Tui Lolohea.
Jake Connor was brilliant with the boot as he made it 28-14 with the boot and this lead extended with Will Pryce crossing for the sixth try from the Giants before the hour mark.
Like Naiqama, Pryce made it a quick fire brace this time coming from long range.
Kevin Naiqama then completed his hat trick of tries before McGillvary added to the Giants’ dominance.
Aptly Scott Taylor notched a last try on his final appearance at MKM Stadium.
This left the final score at 52-20.
