Hull FC star signing begins his Super League journey

Hull FC completed their exciting recruitment for 2023 with the third member of their new look spine added to the squad when they signed Jake Clifford from Newcastle Knights on a two-year deal.

He joins fellow former Knight Tex Hoy at the club alongside former Castleford Tigers man Jake Trueman in an exciting new look spine following the departures of Josh Reynolds, Luke Gale and Jake Connor over the last six months.

Hull’s squad is complete for 2023 with Leeds Rhinos duo Liam Sutcliffe and Brad Dwyer the other signings brought to the club.

Now Clifford has joined pre-season today having made the trip over from Australia beginning his Hull FC journey.

His Super League debut could come against Castleford Tigers in the opening round of the league meaning he has around two months to prepare and build combinations though he already has one with Hoy.

Speaking to the Hull FC website, he said: “I’m really excited to have signed. When Hull approached me, they made me feel like I was really wanted and that was a massive appealing factor for me.

“I’ve got my mate, Tex Hoy, heading over to Hull for next season, as well, so I’m looking forward to linking up with him again.

“I’ve heard some good things from Tony [Smith] too and there are some great players at the club with a lot of special talent, and I want to be a part of it and I’m excited about what we can achieve.

“I hope I can bring some leadership to the group to help the team get around the park, but I also want to have enjoy my footy and win some games.”

The question is, will this exciting squad enable Hull FC to get back to where they were five years ago and challenge for trophies once again.
