Hull FC signing Zak Hardaker picks out ‘exciting’ teammate for 2025

Hull FC signing Zak Hardaker has spoken on the team’s playmaking practices and one player who he’s loved watching – both during the 2024 campaign as an opposition player and in pre-season as a teammate.

Hardaker is one of ten signings made by Hull FC with four of those players coming from Leigh, including both Hardaker and Ed Chamberlain who spent the back end of 2024 with the Black and Whites.

John Asiata and Oliver Holmes are the other two players to arrive from the Leigh Sports Village but other Hull FC signings include NRL pair Aidan Sezer and Jordan Rapana, Salford duo Amir Bourouh and Cade Cust, whilst Jordan Abdull and recent recruit Hugo Salabio round out the recruitment.

Plenty of those signings are spine players and will be involved in the playmaking, something that Hardaker has explained is being heavily scrutinised and assessed with in-depth analysis of why certain plays are or aren’t working in training.

“You’d rather make a million mistakes now and get them out of the way before the season,” he explained in an interview on the club’s YouTube channel when discussing how the club are approaching their offence in 2025.

“We’ve got a number of lads who are new so there are some calls that we’re not used to but then there are some things that we feel strongly about – maybe some different moves or plays.”

Those different moves or plays are set to be conducted by an entirely new-look spine in 2025 but there is one player from 2024 who Hardaker singled out as someone who could be a key contributor.

Discussing the plethora of talent the club has, Hardaer said: “When we’ve got halves like Seze (Aidan Sezer) and Raps (Jordan Rapana) on the edges, there’s talk coming from all different angles. We’ve also got John in the middle.

“Then we’ve got young Logan (Moy) at full-back who is on one wing one minute and then the other wing the next minute so there are people all over.”

Moy, who is still only 19, made his Hull FC debut in 2024 but would make a whopping 16 appearances and he caught the eye of veteran centre and former full-back Hardaker.

“I really enjoyed watching Logan last year,” he explained.

“I think he’s come on leaps and bounds, just watching him in training and speaking to the boys who were here last year, it’s clear that he has come on leaps and bounds.

“To hear that and see how well he’s going at training, it’s really exciting for someone like that to play next year.”

It’s likely that Jordan Rapana will be the starting full-back at Hull FC with Moy set to serve as his understudy meaning there may be less playing opportunities for the teenager, despite the excitement around him.
