Hull FC have announced the signing of experienced half-back Aidan Sezer ahead of the 2025 Super League campaign.
The Black and Whites have had a busy week with the addition of Jordan Rapana being confirmed on Wednesday afternoon. However, the club have now revealed the addition of Sezer, with the Wests Tigers man signing a two-year deal with the club.
The 33-year-old is no stranger to Super League, of course, having spent time with Huddersfield Giants and Leeds Rhinos before joining the Tigers at the start of the campaign. With spells coming at Gold Coast Titans and Canberra Raiders in the NRL, too, it’s fair to say Sezer will add heaps of experience to Hull’s spine for next season, with over 240 career appearances to his name.
It was at the Titans where he first came across John Cartwright, who will be taking charge of the Black and Whites next season. The Australian spent three years playing in Queensland under Cartwright and the head coach will have a firm idea of what he wants from his latest overseas recruit.
Sezer becomes the eighth signing announced by Hull for next season, joining Rapana, John Asiata, Zak Hardaker, Ed Chamberlain, Jordan Abdull, Amir Bourouh and Oliver Holmes.
“It feels great to sign for the club. Hull FC is a great club and when I played over in England before, I always remember the FC fans were out in big numbers and making lots of noise, so it’s going to be awesome to play in front of them next year,” Sezer told the club website.
“I spoke to Carty [John Cartwright], and that was pretty much enough to get me to sign.
“It was only a brief conversation over the phone. As soon as I found out he was going to be involved at Hull FC, I was all ears.
“I’ve got the utmost respect for Carty. He coached me at the Titans and I always really enjoyed working under him, so I’m excited to link up with him again.
“I actually know a few of the blokes who have already signed for 2025. It’s going to be exciting to get together with those guys and build up our combinations on the field.”
The addition of Sezer, who has made 17 appearances for Wests this year, ensures Hull have filled their quota for next year, with the addition of Cade Cust yet to be announced.
On his latest recruit, director of rugby Richie Myler, said: “Aidan is a seasoned professional who has shown his capabilities in both the NRL and Super League – with over a decade playing at the top level, we’re delighted to add someone of his calibre to our ranks for 2025.
“John is fully aware of the talent Aidan possesses having coached him earlier in his career, while I had the pleasure of playing alongside him for two years at Leeds. He is a leadership figure, and he’s going to bring that quality to us next season – he’ll be another excellent role model for some of our younger talents to look up to.
“With the return of Jordan Abdull, plus the bright young talent of Jack Charles, our pivot options are something that excites us for next season as we add another piece of the puzzle into place.”

Panic buying doesn’t begin to cover it! This scattergun approach of acquiring anyone and everyone won’t work. Didn’t work this season. The should have assembled a spine, brought in youth, and then strengthened with some quality experienced players. They could end up with eight half backs, no back row, a few fullbacks and no centres.
