Hull FC have continued their recruitment drive with some major NRL deals, if reports are true – but one has suffered a major blow this weekend.
They have made plenty of signings for next season, with some big names, including John Asiata and Zak Hardaker, plying their trade at the MKM Stadium in 2025.
However, they’ve also made some mid-season additions, including that of winger Tom Briscoe.
The NRL market has also been utilised in the past 12 months, with players such as Herman Ese’ese and Jed Cartwright being more successful than Franklin Pele and Nu Brown!
Just this week, it has emerged that Jordan Rapana of Canberra Raiders and Aiden Sezer of Wests Tigers will be heading to Hull too.
Hull FC ‘s huge NRL signing suffers season-ending injury
Jordan Rapana, a New Zealand international that’s much-loved in Canberra, has made over 200 appearances for the Raiders and will join team-mate Elliott Whitehead in Super League – albeit at a club in a different country.
Raiders head coach Ricky Stuart said after the game, via Hull Daily Mail: “I’ve spoken to the doctor.
“He’s got a fracture to the eye socket or the cheek bone. He’s broken his nose too.
“It’s disappointing. We sent both of the boys out last week in regards to our last home game, Elliot (Whitehead) and Jordan. We didn’t know Jordan was going.
“We sent Elliot out in a nice way. Jordan didn’t get that opportunity the way that Elliot did going off with injury. But he can be proud that he was involved in that game today for some small minutes.”
This confirms that he’ll be joining the Black and Whites, but sadly for Rapana, also that he won’t get another game in his NRL career – at 35 years-old, on a two-year contract at Hull FC, he’ll surely never return as a player.
