Hull FC ratings v Leeds Rhinos as four score 8s in heartbreaking late defeat

Hull FC

Ryan Hall broke Hull FC’s hearts with a last minute try to give Leeds Rhinos a 18-16 win over the Black and Whites at Headingley.

Hull surrendered a 16-4 lead in the second half after Lewis Martin, Sam Eseh and Harvey Barron tries but they couldn’t hold off the Rhinos’ comeback late on.

Here’s our FC player ratings.

Will Pryce: Great assist to set up Lewis Martin in the first half. Not always comfortable in the full-back, but enough to impress at points. 7

Harvey Barron: Defensively so strong and took his try so well at the start of the second half. 7

Jordan Rapana: Stretchered off after the opening 10 minutes with a head injury. N/A

Davy Litten: A constant threat aerially and carried well off the left edge. A superb showing from the centre. 8

Lewis Martin: Got Hull FC on the board with a simple finish but carried well all game and dealt with everything Leeds kicked his way. 7

Cade Cust: Strong defensively again and threatened to put the game to bed when he slipped through the line in the second half. 7

Aidan Sezer: Not always at his best with the ball in hand but led his side well on his former stomping ground. 7

Herman Ese’ese: Held up in the second half and part of a strong defensive unit. 7

Amir Bourouh: Never stopped. Made a huge amount of tackles and led the way defensively for his side. 8

Liam Knight: The big man’s best work came without the ball. 7

Zak Hardaker: Won’t have been happy with his attempts to stop Tom Holroyd scoring but looks more than at home at back-row. 7

Ed Chamberlain: Like most of the pack, his best work came in defence. 7

John Asiata: Helped build the platform for the first try and ran his blood to water but it was kick that gave Leeds possession late. 8

Jack Ashworth: Cost Hull a try just before half-time with a stupid offload. 6

Tom Briscoe: Stepped in early doors and put in a shift. 6

Sam Eseh: Made a huge tackle to deny Jarrod O’Connor, went up the other side and powered over. Played big minutes, too. 8

Brad Fash: Emerged in the second half but couldn’t make too much of an impact. 6
