Jack Ashworth is confident that his best is yet to come in a Hull FC shirt as he looks to end the Super League campaign and enter 2025 on a high.
Ashworth is coming to the end of what has been a challenging first season at the MKM Stadium for both the prop and the club. Of course, Hull’s struggles on the field have been well-documented, winning just three games all season, but the former Huddersfield Giants man has been forced to watch most of the campaign from the sidelines.
His outing last weekend against Wigan Warriors was just his 10th of the season, with injuries severely disrupting his game time in black and white. As such, like many at the MKM Stadium, Ashworth could be forgiven for looking at 2025 as an opportunity for a fresh start under John Cartwright, who will be picking up the FC reins over the off-season.
However, the 29-year-old will be looking to end the season on a high with the club having four more games to play in their bid to avoid collecting the Super League wooden spoon.
“There’s more to come from me,” Ashworth said in his pre-match press conference, via Hull Live. “I feel good now. I worked really hard in the off-season before I came here to have a real dig and make an impact.
“I definitely feel like I’ve got a lot more to give, but I’ve still enjoyed my first year here; I’ve enjoyed the town, the people, and the team.
“We’ve gone through some adversity this year, people coming and going, and it’s been like a conveyor belt of players, but all in all, I’ve really enjoyed it.
“I can see that we are building for the future and to be part of that, and hopefully something special is exciting. Next year is a new year, but I want to finish this year strong first, and then we’ll look to the future.”
