Hull FC make squad addition with new signing set for debut

Hull FC coach John Cartwright

Hull FC have added new signing Liam Knight to their squad ahead of Thursday’s clash with Leigh Leopards at the MKM Stadium. Knight officially joined up with the Black and Whites on Monday, with the 30-year-old Australian penning a deal until the end of the Super League season.

The forward linked up with his new teammates last week and after seeing his registration as a player completed by the RFL, he has been added to John Cartwright’s squad. Knight hasn’t played since being released by Canterbury Bulldogs at the end of the 2024 season.

However, the 30-year-old looks set to make his debut for the club against the Leopards, who are looking to pick up their fourth straight win in Super League this week. Knight has been named in the Hull squad alongside Sam Eseh, who has re-joined the Black and Whites on loan from Wigan Warriors, but Liam Watts won’t feature just yet.

Watts re-joined the Black and Whites on a short-term deal on Monday night, but this Thursday’s game seems to have come a little too soon for him.

Knight will fancy himself to make an early impact in the Hull FC side, with the 30-year-old arriving with plenty of NRL experience under his belt. The prop has represented Manly Sea Eagles, Canberra Raiders, South Sydney Rabbitohs and Canterbury Bulldogs during his career with his most successful stint coming with the Bunnies.

He made 66 appearances in cardinal red and myrtle green and helped the club reach the 2021 Grand Final, although he never featured in the showpiece event.

His registration comes as a boost for Hull, who will be looking to build on their second win of the season last week against Huddersfield Giants. FC left it late at the John Smith’s Stadium, but they know a home win over Leigh would see them move onto six points and equal the point tally they managed over the entirety of last season, with the only blemish on their record so far being a one-sided loss to Wigan Warriors.
