Hull FC have brought 2025 signing Ed Chamberlain in on loan for the remainder of the season, effectively bringing the centre in early on his future deal.
It was announced by Hull FC last week that they had signed three Leigh Leopards players in addition to the previously announced John Asiata.
The Black and Whites announced the signings of Zak Hardaker, Ed Chamberlain and Oliver Holmes, all within the space of 24 hours. Fast forward a week and it’s now been confirmed that Ed Chamberlain will be joining Hull FC earlier with a season-long loan confirmed.
It’s a deal that comes at a perfect time for Hull FC after they lost both their senior centres last week with Liam Sutcliffe failing a Head Injury Assessment whilst former club captain Carlos Tuimavave suffered a reoccurrence of a hamstring injury.
This swift decision to bring Ed Chamberlain in for the remainder of the 2024 season would likely indicate that the injury to Tuimavave is a bad one.

After announcing that Ed Chamberlain would sign for them in 2025, Hull FC today shared a statement that they had got their man early.
That statement read: “Hull FC are delighted to confirm that Ed Chamberlain will join the club on loan for the remainder of the 2024 season.
“It was announced last week that the 28-year-old has signed a three-year deal for 2025, but Hull FC have agreed a deal with Leigh Leopards to bring the centre to East Yorkshire for the rest of the 2024 campaign.
“FC fans may recall seeing Chamberlain feature in Black & White colours earlier in the season, a brief cameo in which he played twice for Hull.”
Chamberlain was quickly recalled from his earlier loan spell at Hull FC with Leigh’s owner Derek Beaumont taking issue with how the Black and Whites announced the signing of Leigh skipper John Asiata.
Just days after that announcement, Chamberlain was recalled to the Leopards, however, he now finds himself back on Humberside where he will play the remaining ten games of the season.

A curious detail of Ed Chamberlain’s signing announcement last week was that the player did not make any comments, as was the same for Oliver Holmes.
However, upon his loan return, Chamberlain spoke with the Irish international expressing his joy at returning to Hull FC, something he labelled as a “no-brainer”.
“All of the lads were spot on with me, which helped me settle straight in, and that’s all you want in a new environment.
“So I’m looking forward to getting back to Hull and putting my best foot forward ahead of making it a permanent move for 2025.”
Richie Myler, Hull FC’s Director of Rugby, added: “As I said in our club statement last week, Ed is a player who impresses me a lot, especially with his attitude and work ethic.
“He settled in with the group really quickly during his loan spell here earlier in the season, and I’m confident that it won’t take long for him to hit the ground running as he joins us again for the rest of the year.”
